Flashback – Food Drives

My heritage and culture comes from the Caribbean, I have not known hunger personally and I thank God for that, yet I have seen the face of hunger in the Dominican Republic 40 years ago – it was not uncommon for people to be out on the streets begging for food, that is not the case these days.

Now fast forward to the present, one would think that in a country that is supposedly among one of advanced cultures and technology- that hunger would not be an issue in the United States. Yet juxtapose an ever increasing obese population along with an ever increasing hungry population I don’t know what is crazier.

I believe we have taken two steps backwards.
