Set Your Sail

From point a to point b

I could have written: from point a to point z

I conducted a workshop for aspiring entrepreneurs. When I ask what is it that they truly want, I get the usual: live in my dream home, drive in my dream car, go on my dream vacation and be financially independent.

I believe that a lot of people get to point ‘a’, and then dream of point ‘z’. They see a business opportunity and their mind rushes to point ‘z’; now let me tell you what happens at point ‘a’ — A lot of excitement, maybe meetings and brain-storming, and ‘preparing’ to get started. There may be at least one serious attempt at working their business but after 90 days the magic is gone. The results were not there, the expectations were not met and the whole idea gets scrapped.

Why? Because it’s: W – O – R – K

One of the key questions that I ask these aspiring entrepreneurs, is: How do you plan on getting to point ‘z’? How much time are you willing to invest in yourself, in your marketing, in your business? How committed are you? What are your expectations? What system of accountability are you planning on using? …most important:
Can you make it to point ‘b’ and What action will you take to get there? and What plan do you have to get to point c?

These are some of the suggestions I propose: Make Planning a Routine Part of Each Day.
Be METHODICAL! Invest time in planning, organizing and scheduling.
Be PREPARED.
Most important, after the planning is done –Take ACTION.

LIVE your purpose. Understand your purpose, commit to it…once you make the determination that you WILL live your purpose… the question becomes “HOW?”

Some people may just need outside support and need to find a group of like minded people or they may have to go the extra mile and pay for an accountability coach. It’s all about how serious they are about achieving their objective.sail
The same wind blows on us all, the difference is in how you set the sail.
