Fourth of July 2018

My first Fourth of July as Mayor to the city of Lake Helen. So many places to be… I didn’t know how the day was going to turn out but glad to say, so happy that there were happy people and no one hurt.

Pictured here with former Mayor of Lake Helen Buddy Snowden… Mr. Lake Helen himself.

On the Fourth of July we celebrate the anniversary of the publication of the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776. Lake Helen celebrated with parade, music and a lovely display of fireworks.

The tradition in the city of Lake Helen is…to start off at 10:00 am with a patriotic and old time charm parade – horses, scooters and red, white and blue if you live it town that’s your ticket to walk or ride in the parade! Children and families line up on the parade route, with smiles and lots of great cheer a real small town charm. As the parade promenades by kids scatter about as they are showered with candies.

I had so much going on…
Lee was visiting from Texas for the weekend and he brought his girlfriend Barbara.

This was the same day Shannon and her family were coming over for visit. We were going to meet her family for the first time – no pressure.

I suppose if there was a day to meet Geordan’s girlfriend parents – let it be the day with fireworks.

We had a lovely dinner at our home and then we headed to the namesake Lake Helen lake, the view was lovely and we caught a couple canoes moving about the water; as dusk settled in – lanterns were floating into the dusk sky – the sounds of laughter could be heard from children in anticipation for the firework show ready to start.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY. GOD BLESS LAKE HELEN, GOD BLESS AMERICA!
