Mayor’s Journal: The Mayor’s Office

The Mayor’s Office.

As Mayor for the city of Lake Helen, Florida, too often people ask me about my office and “office hours”. My response is… my “office” is out with the people of the city of Lake Helen – to me, mayoring is not a 9-5 job it’s an all or nothing deal. I’ve had the most interesting meetings in the middle of the road, sitting on peoples porches, in their driveways, at their kitchen tables, in their living rooms, at the pumps, at Lake Helen Market in the Park – pretty seldom at Lake Helen City Hall except for commission meetings.

Our Interim City Administrator Becky Witte – has been busy not only cleaning and clearing some administrative loose ends but also moving things around at City Hall. Even the Mayor’s office got moved around and ‘changed’ around – without asking – this may be revealing nature, only time will tell; never the less, I’m grateful.

For me, the Mayor’s office should be a place where people can feel welcome to have a sit down and a talk.

So as you can see by the pictures I was pleasantly surprised. May I introduce to you – the people of Lake Helen’s OFFICE, yes, the Mayor’s office is the people’s office – as for me… I am okay with doing “house calls”.

As Mayor for the city of Lake Helen as we enter into 2019: We rise by lifting others.
