Bringing Music to Volusia County – Florida

As a mother I am so blessed and proud to watch this beautiful soul – my son Geordan – grow and evolve and share his beautiful energy and passions.

We all have our quirks and hang-ups – which if we allow they could be a detriment to all the good that can come from within us if we feed to the insecurities.

George and I were so stoked that the Beacon News featured our son and his organization Unity Performing Arts in the newspaper on the web.

He’s been working towards bringing music programs to Volusia County here in central Florida. It seems that where ever you turn whether at a park, restaurant or event it would seem that music is everywhere. For someone that does not have a music background such as myself, I would not understand what that means. Yet, for someone in that niche industry there is a big void, here in Central Florida. Recently he met with the County Chair Jeff Brower to see what the County could offer in form of collaboration and I had the opportunity to sit in on the meeting.

I sat quietly and listened to Geordan present his ideas and his program and quickly I was able to understand that there was a need for what he was proposing in Volusia County, and how musicians young and old had to travel distances to other counties to connect with music development outside of an academic public system music program.

Even though he has become a very popular and on demand double bassist, he also has become a person of many hats, he recently developed their website, and I must say… he did a fine job. Visit the link and weigh in for yourself: Unity Performing Arts

Indeed a very proud mother here.

Life. Enjoy the Journey.
