Empowerment

I was nominated to be a key speaker for the Psi Theta Omega, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at their: Empowerment Seminar

The sorority ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha created a platform where other
women with entrepreneurial hearts could come together and share their journey and opportunity. Kudos to them and their sincere work in growing a strong community.

Empowerment is defined as: to equip or supply with an ability; enable.

Empowerment starts with gratitude, appreciating others for what they do makes them feel that they made a difference and their efforts don’t go unnoticed. You empower others through gratitude. Do it more often.

Empowerment starts with acknowledging others effort no matter how trivial. You empower others by letting others know that what they do makes a difference, a little comment like: “good work!” can go a long way. Pay close attention to those around you and let them know you are aware of their actions.

Empowerment also includes listening to others. Listening attentively to others as they express themselves and they talk and interact with you.

Empowerment begins at home and moves onto our work place and continues into our interaction in our communities.

I truly was honored as these ladies ’empowered’ me with the opportunity to share about business entrepreneurship, vision and also our work at The Helpful Hands Foundation. It was also an opportunity for me to ’empower’ the audience with some of my experiences and wisdom I’ve acquired as we’ve been on our journey with our non-profit. The importance of ‘Vision’ and ‘Patience’ as well as taking ‘Action’. Sometimes all the pieces of the puzzle are not laid on the table and it is important to just get started, the pieces will appear and the puzzle picture will become more clear.

Daisy Says: Empower yourself, be grateful for what you have and listen to your heart.
