Florida Chill

There was a Florida chill running through the air, as I drove home with my car window down I could smell the smokey smell of fireplaces rolling in the neighborhood. It was a great excuse to kick up the fireplace at home.

What a great warm feeling sitting by the fire. My ears enjoyed the sound of the wood crackling and sizzling as the embers orchestrated a little symphony.

Sometimes life is about the small things that seemingly appear like nothing yet deeply those moments create and anchor great memories.

One of those small nothings is sharing a fire with loved ones and making small talk about nothing while gazing at the fire dancing up the chimney. Every now and then silence fills the space and the fire-song takes over, sizzling and crackling their melody. Occasionally there is a shift of a log and a dash of sparkles blazon on with a resounding pop here and there – bringing back the small talk and the pleasure of the company.

A perfect post to share the recipe of the tasty Hot Buttered Rum we shared.
