My Cousin Oneida

My cousin Oneida keeps herself busy with multiple projects and businesses, one being the Casa Dos Chicas Cafe and her nonprofit organization Fungesa not to mention civic organizations that she’s involved with. To say that she took time from her busy life to spend a couple of days with me… I find that as one of the sweetest gifts.

I’ve heard a long time ago that if you want something done, go find a busy person.
Not that I need anything done, what I can tell you, my cousin likes to maximize her opportunities and her time. She had contacted Geordan to meet up with him to have him look at her violin since the strings needed adjusting and tuning. Geordan being a music major and is familiar with the violin. He said he would like at it.

Happens that he was at the Shoestring Theatre, so we hopped on over and unfortunately he was in the middle of teaching a class so we used opportunity to give her an abbreviated tour of the theatre.

She said she wanted to stop at the New Age shops of Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp… so we store-hopped from one shop to the other, enjoying the afternoon which felt magical and timeless. Afterward we drove into DeLand to grab a bite and well… we also stopped in to grab some chocolates at Pat and Toni’s Sweet Things. The selection was endless… that was hard! …yet, delicious.

Geordan made time for her and replaced several strings on her violin, tuned it also. Not sure if it was two hours later… time was like stopped still yet fast forward. Geordan gave her some lessons and instructions on how to bow and hold the violin. Oneida was all in it… serious and attentive, not missing any instruction.

We settled into the evening with a lovely cup of Passion Flower, Peppermint and Lavender Team all goodies grown in my garden. Soothing to tummy and yummy on the palate… made sweeter with laughter and conversations of the splendors of life. I’ve learned that Life must be lived in the moment.

Sometimes I find it hard to describe the awesome feeling in my heart when I see a sunrise, or the feeling of affection to share the company of kindred spirits. There must be something that holds in our hearts when we place attention and give of our time to celebrate and honor people in the moment as they show up in our lives.

Life is so sweet, so fleeting; in fact each moment must be seized for what it is… a memory to be cherished.
