Unconventional Mother’s Day

For the last 20 years or so… I have arrived at a place where all these ‘holidays’ here in America seem just like a big commercial promotion, as if we really needed a calendar day set aside to celebrate our mothers.

For the most part it seems like the usual mother’s day gift is getting mom out of the kitchen… and seriously if you can’t take her to a 5 star restaurant with prearranged reservations… don’t torture her!

Perhaps it is a sign that I am older and wiser? ugh. I may have to laugh at myself that I’m at that place in life.

Yet… with my son now 24 years old, I never get tired of hearing “mommy I love you”. He has his own life full of schedules and appointments – making every little time I get to enjoy him even more precious.

Originally he wanted to take me out to the orchid show, but he worked that weekend. So Mother’s Day started on early. Who said we had to celebrate on Sunday? So Friday was our day. As the wonders of life when you don’t force things, I suggested if he wanted to join me out to the Metaphysics New Age store out in Daytona Beach… sure was a treat. Even took a picture of my aura. Almost all travels to Daytona Beach means we must make a stop at our favorite donuts shop… Krispy Kreme.

The next day he got it into his head that he wanted to go to Tangers Outlets out in Daytona Beach, Fl. and well, why not continue the celebrations. Practicing moving with the eb and flow allows for magical and unexpected moments. All that shopping got us hungry so at 10pm we capped it with breakfast at Cracker Barrel .

While waiting for our server a dashing gentle man approached me and kissed me on the forehead – not knowing who it was, I looked up to see Gary – Cathy Tallacksens husband smiling at me. Geordan’s face was priceless, he looked behind and saw Cathy Tallacksen smiling as well. I’m like, “oh this is normal, strangers just come up to me and randomly hug me.” Love my Mother’s day weekend

Go with the flow… count your blessings. and to the moms out there on good planet Earth… it’s not an easy thing, God bless you.
